Winter is almost officially here in the U.S. and that means snow-covered roads
Winter is almost officially here in the U.S. and that means snow-covered roads and icy conditions. Today’s blog post looks at common winter driving mistakes your company’s drivers need to avoid.
Weather.com has a list of 14 mistakes all drivers need to avoid, including:
necprclass.com necprclass.com
- Skipping the routine maintenance. When the temperatures are ready to drop, change your wiper fluid from a 50/50 mixture of wiper fluid and water to all fluid (and carry an extra bottle of fluid in your vehicle). Add Anti-Freeze to Your Radiator and don’t skip your regularly scheduled oil and filter change
- Not testing your vehicle. Checking your battery, headlights and taillights and replacing windshield wiper blades should be part of your winter prep for personal and company vehicles.
- Not keep a winter driving kit in your vehicle. Shovels, blankets, flashlights, emergency snacks – they can be lifesavers.
- Not focusing on your winter driving skills. There’s a good chance your drivers are driving too fast, too Close to Other Cars and may need to brush up on their ice-handling skills.
Big rigs hauling heavy loads require even more winter driving skill. Fueloyal.com offers 15 tips for truckers, including:
- Don’t get complacent or overly confident
- Accelerate and brake more slowly
- Clear your windshield, mirrors and lights
- Always keep your tanks as full as possible
- Never drive tired, especially in bad weather

Cold Weather safety
necprclass.com
1) Listen to the weather forecast
- Check the Environment Canada weather forecast before going out.
- Listen for a wind chill warning. Warnings are based on local climate and are issued when significant wind chills are expected.
- Visit Environment Canada's new Weather and Meteorology website: http://ec.gc.ca/meteo-weather/
Weather forecasts are available through radio and TV broadcasts, Environment Canada's Weatheradio service, and online at www.weatheroffice.gc.ca.
2) Plan ahead
- Develop a cold weather safety plan in advance to ensure that safety concerns are addressed when it's very cold, or when the wind chill is significant. For example, schools could hold recess indoors, outside workers could schedule warm-up breaks, and those involved in winter recreation could reduce the amount of time they spend outdoors.
3) Dress warmly
- Dress in layers, with a wind resistant outer layer.
- When it is cold, wear a hat, mittens or insulated gloves. Keep your face warm with a scarf, neck tube or facemask.
- Wear warm and waterproof footwear. When it is very cold, or when the wind chill is significant, cover as much exposed skin as possible. Your body's extremities, such as the ears, nose, fingers and toes lose heat the fastest.
4) Seek shelter
- When the wind chill is significant, get out of the wind and limit the time you spend outside.
5) Stay dry
- Wet clothing chills the body rapidly.
- Remove outer layers of clothing or open your coat if you are sweating.
6) Keep active
- Walking or running will help warm you by generating body heat.
7) Be aware
- Watch for signs of frostbite and hypothermia (see below).
- Some people are more susceptible to the cold, particularly children, the elderly and those with circulation problems.
- Check on elderly relatives and neighbours to ensure they are warm enough and have sufficient supplies, particularly when the weather is cold or snowy. They might not feel comfortable going outside to shop and may require food, medications and other supplies.
- The use of alcohol, tobacco and certain medications will increase your susceptibility to cold.

IF YOU NEED TO CALL 911 BUT ARE SCARED TO BECAUSE OF SOMEONE IN THE ROOM
IF YOU NEED TO CALL 911 BUT ARE SCARED TO BECAUSE OF SOMEONE IN THE ROOM, dial and ask for a pepperoni pizza. They will ask if you know you’re calling 911. Say yes, and continue pretending you’re making an order. They’ll ask if there’s someone in the room. You can ask how long it will take for the pizza to get to you, and they will tell you how far away a patrol unit is. Share this to save a life!!! Its not only pizza ..dispatchers are trained to ask specific yes or no questions..dont hang up

hard and fast cpr
Do not be fooled by other websites claiming to give you “instant CPR certification online.” These so called classes may give you a card that states you took a “CPR class,” however they are not at all accredited and your employer or school will not accept this. The American Heart Association is the only accredited institution that is accepted by all healthcare institutions for CPR certification. All of our classes will give you a 2 year certification from the AHA, including our online classes, which require a skills test. Don't waste your time and money with non-AHA instructors!
