SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT UNTIL 12PM EST THU ...AREAS OF HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW CONTINUES THIS MORNING... AS OF 940 AM, MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW CONTINUES WHICH ALSO INCLUDES AREAS INTO FAR NORTHWESTERN NEW JERSEY. SNOWFALL RATES WILL BE AROUND 1 INCH PER HOUR THROUGH EARLY AFTERNOON, ESPECIALLY AS SOME HEAVIER SNOW SHIFTS INTO THE AREA FROM THE EAST AND NORTHEAST. THE COMBINATION OF HEAVIER SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS IS RESULTING IN CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AND ROADS WILL BE TREACHEROUS. VISIBILITIES ARE REDUCED TO ONE HALF MILE OR LESS DUE TO HEAVIER SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW. THE SNOW SHOULD TAPER OFF TO FLURRIES DURING MID AFTERNOON. TRAVEL WILL BE SEVERELY IMPACTED DUE TO THE COMBINATION OF HEAVY SNOW, STRONG WINDS AND SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED VISIBILITIES. IF YOU CAN, POSTPONE TRAVEL UNTIL MID OR LATE AFTERNOON.
